We are considering moving to several shorter format stories for each show rather than a single long interview, but would like some feedback from you first. Donatos invited Jim and Zach over to their corporate headquarters to talk about the launch of their new hand tossed pizza, and we use the opportunity to ask them why we should feel good about giving them our business. Here is some history and a preview of why they might be a little different from your average pizza chain. From CMHGourmand: The 1960’s saw the beginning of another pizza powerhouse, Donatos. The Grote family took Columbus style pizza to the next level and beyond, opening many locations throughout the Midwest. The company was purchased by McDonald’s but after a few years, McDonald’s attempt at McPizza faltered and the Grote family purchased their company back for less than what they were paid originally. Lydia, co-owner of Los Potosinos, was present during the introduction but her full interview was cut due to time constraints. Lydia will get her due though as she'll have an entire episode to herself in the coming weeks. The local Latino population has grown to 6% up from 2.5% in 2000 and the number of Taco Trucks has seen an even more pronounced explosion.
